Episode 9: The Screaming Tribesmen; The Informants; Old Growth Cola

The Screaming Tribesmen

Apparently the number 9 is unlucky in Japanese culture because it sounds like pain or distress. However, here on episode nine of Live Delay, you have nothing to fear. We’ve got three outstanding live sets to showcase for you courtesy of three great, and diverse, artists – pin back your ears back and listen out for live sets from The Screaming Tribesmen, The Informants, and Old Growth Cola in the latest episode of Live Delay.

THE SCREAMING TRIBESMEN
Recorded and mixed by Sky Kirkham.

This is pretty special. You should know about The Screaming Tribesmen – local legends who defied the odds with a series of brilliant smash hits throughout the 1980s, both here and overseas. We were fortunate enough to capture their brilliance live on stage when the Live Delay recording team caught up with them during their reformation concert at 2011 The Gathering festival in Brisbane. Date With a Vampyre – what a song!

THE INFORMANTS
Recorded and mixed by Sky Kirkham.

Can you handle the funk? Well, can you handle funk with reggae and soul thrown in for good measure? The Informants are my prescription to you then! Local Brisbane four piece specialising in getting down. Live Delay caught them owning stages back in 2011 at The Gathering Festival. Tune in for some tunes that will turn your sour mood to a stick of melted butter.

OLD GROWTH COLA
Recorded by Sky Kirkham and Ellie Freeman.
Mixed by Old Growth Cola.

Allegedly Brisbane’s ‘strangest’ pop group, Old Growth Cola are a fascinating and not always predicatble band who like to indulge in layer weird sounds over traditional pop melodies. It’s a recipe for fascination and Live Delay managed to catch them in their element at the 4ZZZ BaZZar in West End in mid-2012.
