Episode 44: Tarcar; Wonderfuls

Screen shot 2013-11-02 at 11.29.07 AM

In episode 44 we take in the dreamy live weirdness of new Melbourne duo TARCAR. We also reboot a classic live set from Brisbane’s WONDERFULS

Recorded live at The Gasometer Hotel

Our feature set today features the dreamy noise of Melbourne duo TARCAR.

Tarcar feature the music of Tarquin Manek and Carla Dal Forno, who also play in bands Bum Creek and Mole House respectively. They weave some kind of space pop using a drum machine amongst many other instruments. I’ve noted it’s pretty hard to find out info online about the band – they’re that new.

This set was recorded at the Gasometer Hotel in Collingwood Victoria back in June this year where the group played the Greg Boring LP launch. Other bands on the bill included the aforementioned Greg Boring , Gurner, and Free Choice Duo.

Recorded and mixed by Will Clark.
Recorded at The Tribal Theatre, Brisbane.

Wonderfuls record Salty Town was one of the best Brisbane releases of the 2012. An eccentric duo of Robert Vagg and Danny McGirr with a skill for detailing the ravaging nature of the everyday. Live Delay were lucky to catch up with the group when they played The Tribal Theatre back in May 2013 as part of Guilt Retreat.

Features an introduction by Shaun Prescott of Crawlspace magazine.

For anyone interested, here’s the download of the live Tarcar set that was featured in this show. Would’ve been nice if you included that link (or any mention of source) in your original post. Looking forward to hearing what your thoughts were on the gig once the Soundcloud link for this show goes up.
Keep up the good work, love the show.

    • Hey there ! Sorry, when the band provided it to 4zzz they never mentioned this was actually done by you. I was only told it was a live recording done off the desk.

However, I will amend this post and add in the appropriate links ASAP (I’m just overseas at the moment and may not get time to do it before next Monday).

      Apologies for unintentionally not crediting!

      • Oh! I just assumed you got it off the blog; it’s not my recording!
My bad, I just saw it and assumed you used my versions – I didn’t realize the band had done a soundboard rip.
My apologies for jumping to the conclusion that you’d used my recording from the without credit.
As I said, love what you’re doing and keep up the good work.

      • Well, it might be! The band provided it to me but never told me who did the recordings (as far as my legal knowledge goes of recording, the bands recorded always ‘own’ them and therefore can provide them to stations/shows like Live Delay – so I didn’t really think much of it).

The set can now be heard here: https://soundcloud.com/livedelay/episode-44-tarcar-wonderfuls

Can you confirm if it is your set and I’ll credit appropriately? It’s the first set of songs.

Also, I threw in a link to your blog 🙂 If there is any quality sets you think radio quality (and assuming the recorded band are cool with it), you’re welcome to suggest them for broadcast on the show!

  2. Just listened to it – it’s definitely a soundboard rip, not my audience recording.
I’m very sorry to have wasted your time, I feel like kind of a dick now.
Thanks for whacking that link up 🙂
I’ll have a listen through some stuff and send out some emails – there’s a few sets I think might suit what you’re looking for, I just gotta make sure it’s cool with the bands.
