six-ft-hick-press-shot

SixFtHick
Recorded & Mixed by Branko Cosic.
Recorded at Prince Of Wales Hotel, Nundah, Brisbane on the 17th of January, 2015.

Celebrating their 20th year as a band this year, SixFtHick definitely have a lot to show for it. Brothers Ben & Geoff Corbett front the band with their outlandish antics and massive presence. Nobody leaves the venue without at least some of the brothers sweat on your clothing. Rounding out the band is Dan Baebler on Guitar, Tony Giacca on Bass and Fred Noonan on Drums, and amongst them have released four albums plus many singles and EP’s. They’ve toured the world many times and have even had a documentary made about their adventures. After you’ve witnessed a Sixfthick concert, it will be the only thing that you will talk about for weeks on end and beg all of your friends to see them next time they play. You can also the members of Sixfthick in various other bands such as Gentle Ben And His Sensitive Side, Shifting Sands and the Jim Rockfords, just to name a few.

Episode 7: Tape/Off; The Horrortones; The Mouldy Lovers

Tape/Off

Lucky seven! And Live Delay episode seven is going to be a really special event indeed. We bring you three great and very different Brisbane bands in their element – live on stage!

TAPE/OFF
Set 1 recorded by Sky Kirkham and mixed by Branko Cosic.
Set 2 recorded by Murray Paas and mixed by Cameron Smith.

We bring you not one, but TWO sets from one of Brisbane’s loudest bands – Tape/Off. The foursome whose fondness of loud pavement-esque rock has with a twist has seen them etch out a unique identity within their hometown music scene over the past few years. They’re also pretty nice dudes. Set 1 features three songs recorded at The Primitive Room in Spring Hill, Brisbane, whereas Set 2 shows three different songs from a gig at The Zoo in late 2012.

THE HORRORTONES
Recorded and mixed by Sky Kirkham, 2012.

We’re proud to present Brisbane’s very own supergroup – The Horrortones! Made up of members of Texas Tea, The Vegas Kings, The Giants of Science and many other prominent local bands, The Horrortones beat out the soulful sounds of the sixties in a way even alliteration can’t do justice. Frontman Pete Collins may actually sound like Wilson Pickett and the rest of the band sound like The Commitments but with added sexual organs (and organ). And we’ve got them live here on Live Delay! Grouse!

Find out more about The Horrortones.

THE MOULDY LOVERS
Recorded and mixed by Sky Kirkham, 2011.

The Mouldy Lovers are a young and vibrant Brisbane gypsy instrumental band with a  wicked set of humour. They do a mad cover of the theme song from Tetris (unfortunately, not covered in this set) and have skills to pay multiple bills (not your rent however). Check out this neat live set we captured back in 2011 in this episode of Live Delay.
